We are all saddened by the sudden passing of Sherry LeMay. It was a heart attack that took Sherry from us way too soon. I have been in contact with Sherry's family, and expressed the outpouring of sympathy and prayers to them on your behalf. Her family told me that Sherry enjoyed working here and loved the members and her co-workers. They wanted us to remember Sherry as a happy, free-spirited person. It was Sherry's wish that her services be private with family being the only attendees. The family has suggested that those who wish to do something in her memory donate to a charity of their choosing. For those of us that worked with Sherry, we will remember her as a friendly caring person that was always concerned about our well-being. Our hearts ache in loss, but we are consoled by our many fond memories.

Sincerely,

Brian Maloney
General Manager (Springfield Copuntry Club)

Sherry and I became friends at Annandale having met through Maryalice Conmy.  They met in a home economics class, however sewing and cooking was certainly not Sherry's thing!  Sherry was great fun and always up for a party.  In high school, we spent many hours driving around together which included numerous  trips through McDonald's.  Many of our shenanigans also included her sister, Holly, Sherri Hurt, Spinner, Maryalice and Greg Gaddy( aka Pieface).  I will always remember her for her long beautiful hair, driving her VW bug and for wearing the lowest hip hugger jeans of anyone I had ever seen. I also remember her teaching me how to put on lipstick without a mirror!   Sherry was one of those people who became more gorgeous as she got older.  She dressed impeccably and always stayed in shape.  At a party at my house, a little girl saw Sherry and was amazed by her beauty.  She looked at her own mother and exclaimed " Why don't you look like HER?"
It was quite a shock to learn she had passed away from a heart attack.  No one would have expected that to happen. Although our lives went in different directions, we had remained friends for many years.

The following is what Sherry wrote in 2001 when the reunion committee asked everyone to reveal a secret.  I think this describes Sherry perfectly.

"Yes, I do have a secret, a deliciously wonderful tantalizing secret!  But it must remain one. I would give a day now gladly to go back to that sultry summer evening and relive the teenage joy and wonder of that night.  What a memory!"

Sherry was a good friend and we miss her.
