There is so much more to our AHS Band Director then we knew! This was included in an Internet piece

In 1979, Dr. Marchand, the Towson State Music Department, and the Towson State administration brought Mr. Robert Doster to Towson State to create a marching band. Mr. Doster earned a reputation for his work with marching bands at various schools in Frederick County, Maryland and Fairfax County, Virginia. The band he created at Towson has performed at many exhibitions throughout the state along with the Baltimore Cavalcade of Bands. The marching band was also the host band for the Maryland Tournament of Bands in 1986, and from 1993-2004 (with the exception of 2002).

08/15/2021  Posting for Steve Holley

I feel like I’m on the PR staff for the Grim Reaper here lately.  I’ve attached the obit of our departed Band Director Mr. Doster.  While his passion for musical and marching perfection were second to none; his inability to compliment even the least progress was clearly noticed.  I remember one time we crushed our contribution to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Festival in Herndon. We come in that following Monday with whatever the highest score was and all kinds of accolades and he said “Well…you fooled them but you can’t fool me!”  RIP Big Bob!

Take care,

Steve Holley

Mr. Doster helped so many students at Annandale High School.  He was a hardworking individual who truly cared about his students.  For me he stood out as my favorite teacher for all four years at Annandale.  His love of music and his students really stood out.
