Wow. I didn't know that he had died so young. Was Mr. Bolding the teacher who taught etymology (the fascinating origin of words)? I LOVED that class. To this day, I use what he taught us (Greek and Latin roots, prefixes and suffixes) to decode and define unfamiliar vocabulary words. Mr. Bolding and, of course, the incomparable Miss Aspinall, were two of my favorite teachers.

Yes, it was Wally Bolding that did the etymology thing in English class.  And I found that rather interesting.  Probably only one of a few things I remember "learning and using" from AHS.  Although our relationship didn't start well, he sent me to the front office the first day of our freshman year because my hair was too long, I'd have to say that as I think back on it, he probably was one of my favorite teachers as well.
